System Fail News EXCLUSIVE! New Feature of Red Dead Redemption Uncovered?

image

For a little site like System Fail News, exclusives only happen every one in a million posts (rough estimate) but I’ve been doing some digging and I’ve been scouring every inch of the gaming world to bring you a new bit of 100% EXCLUSIVE info about Rocktar’s upcoming Western-shooter, Red Dead Redemption.

Red Dead Redemption is one of THE hottest upcoming games right now because it has been titled by some as a Grand Theft Auto/Western hybrid and holy mother of Kratos does it look good! So good, in fact that recently, when I was watching the brand spanking new trailer for the game (which can be found here) I may have discovered a brand new feature that will be included in the game.

For a moment, please direct your eyes to the screenshot I took of the trailer which features a tiny bit of text (enlarged underneath) that for you glasses wearing readers like myself, says “you are now an enemy to both sides” . As there’s action in the screenshot it does suggest that this is part of a mission however, I have a hunch that making friends and enemies could be a huge part of the game.

We already know that the main character, John Marston will have a moral compass that will affect the game, e.g in one side mission a police chief needs help rounding up some escaped prisoners; you can either be a good guy and round up them baddies or be a rebel and aid their escape. Perhaps by being a hero or a rebel you will indeed be able to alter which groups of people you will be involved with i.e will you hang out with the “Gentlemen” or the “Vagabonds” ? (the homeless people). I would just like to point out that “Gentlemen & Vagabonds” is the very title of the game's latest trailer.

Red Dead Redemption Weapon video via me on YouTube

*WARNING*The video above contans lots of guns

Ok, so we know that the guns in open world games aren’t as good as those found in first-person shooters such as Modern Warfare 2 and with Rockstar’s spaghetti Western world-roaming shooter, Red Dead Redemption, the case is no different, but my word, does the game look good! I’m really loving the “dead-eye” targeting system (featuring for the first time in this video) that allows the protagonist John Marston to seamlessly paint tiny red crosses (or targets) on his enemies. It will surely bring an interesting dynamic to the game which is already looking wonderful. Shooting aside, did anyone else marvel at the graphics in the game? I swear only Rockstar can make killing cowboys look sexy. Sorry Clint Eastwood.

Red Dead Redemption releases in North America for PS3 and Xbox 360 on April 27th.

In the last post that I wrote about Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption I said that the developer is known for keeping relatively ‘hush-hush’ about their games, recent release Grand Theft Auto IV being a prime example of this. Well, with this new production of theirs it seems that they have pulled the ol’ switcheroo on us (!) as they seem to be pulling out all of the stops on the publicity front to show off their game, not that I’m complaining though! With two trailers already out I guess that releasing these fantastic HD screenshots was the next logical step, unless they wanna let me do a hands-on (hehe, so not gonna happen)….

Anyway, take a look at the images above if you want to see some screenshots of Red Dead Redemption in action.

Check out the Official Red Dead Redemption website for more HD screenshots (I only picked a few of the “action-filled” images)

If you like the look of the game you can pre-order it today at Amazon ready for its April 27th release date next year. (Available for PS3 & Xbox 360)

Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption Rears Its (Rather Attractive) Head

Red Dead Redemption "My Name Is John Marston" trailer via Me!(Jasmine) on YouTube

The team behind the Grand Theft Auto games, Rockstar, are renowned for keeping hush, hush about the game that they happen to be working on. But now ("!), after seeing just a trailer, which was to announce the game, like a cowardly prisoner prisoner in questioning, they’ve sung like a sweet, sweet songbird with the release of this brand new trailer “My Name Is John Marston” , that shows us a bit of what the game is about.

In other Red Dead Redemption news, the Official PlayStation (UK) Podcast (available on iTunes now) discussed which wildlife would feature in the game, revealing that : bears, coyotes & rattlesnakes would all be present.

Will you be getting a copy of the game? Pre-order it from Amazon now to ensure that you get your copy on release, April 27, 2010
